Look out AFL in general Barry Hall is back to take out seven weeks of disappointment and frustration at not being able to play on his former club St Kilda in round 12.

After seven long and we would imagine reflective weeks, Barry Hall is primed for his comeback from suspension after that sickening blow on Brent Stake in the West Coast game during round 4. His club have made it abundantly clear that he owes his team, big time.

Hall has been training hard in the recent weeks in the lead up to his comeback match, with some saying he will return in better form than to before he left. You will remember that not only did Hall get suspended in the West Coast match, but he also broke his wrist, which required a cast for the past 5 weeks. The cast is now off and all reports are that the wrist has healed nicely.

We would suggest that if you are having a bet on AFL in round 12, to have  serious think about backing the Swans at lasseters.com.au with Hall’s return, even if you are not regularly a Swans punter.

Lasseters online sportsbook can offer some of the best odds around for all of your AFL Tipping online and also can help you out with many other odds if you just like the casual bet on AFL. lasseters.com.au

The AFL has announced tough new bench rules that will be introduced to the game, with any team caught breaching the new policy about to be hit hard, by basically handing a free goal to the opposition team.

The harshness of the crackdown by the AFL has shocked clubs, with the announcement that the emergency umpire would have the power to now enforce an immediate free kick and 50m penalty for poor bench moving.

If the team caught breaching the rule is in possession in attack, the umpire will halt play, return the ball to the centre and then step out the 50 m penalty in favour of the opposition. This is basically guaranteeing the opposition side a free goal.

The AFL Teams have been given round 9 to practice the rule which involves a player not being able to enter the field of play until the AFL assigned interchange steward for the club during that match has been handed a note with the details of the change. If a player runs in before the note is received and approved, the new rule will be enforced immediately and the team will be penalised.

Any player who runs off outside of the interchange gates will also hand their opposing AFL team a gift goal, however they will now be able to return to the field as opposed to previously when they could not.

The move is the AFL getting tough of spiraling interchange numbers (sometimes in excess of 100) during single matches and will make teams more accountable for their interchange actions.

Jonathan Brown remains hopeful of being able to play in the AFL Hall of Fame Match, but a number of big name players are in serious doubt of missing the game through injuries. Both Victoria and the Dream Team have announced their line ups for the AFL Hall of Fame  match. Victoria have included Brown and also Gary Ablett despite both players being under serious injury clouds.

Luke Hodge will definitely not be able to take his place in the Victorian AFL Hall of Fame match team, he injured his hamstring at the MCG in the hawthorn v collingwood game on Saturday. Essendon defender Dustin Fletcher was also forced out of the squad with injury.

The AFL Hall of Fame match Dream Team has been hit harder with injuries, with Nick Riewoldt and Simon Black both ruled out after weekend injuries. The Dream Team will also miss out on the experitise of Chad Cornes who has a broken finger, Adam Hunter with a knee injury, and Essendon big gun Alwyn Davey who also has a knee injury.

He’d be well within his rights to, but Swans coach Paul Roos isn’t complaining about the controversial decision that cost the Swans the game against North Melbourne at Telstra Dome.

Roos has held firm after several of his team members informed him the umpire got it wrong and has refused to buy into the debate on introducing video umpires for critical decisions. Roos said “That’s just the way it goes, You get two points each and it’s almost the equivalent of a win”

One of Roos squad, Swans defender Kennelly has said that he would support video umpires in the AFL for crucial decisions like this one over the weekend. Kennelly said that he would prefer that the technology of the third umpire be used to ensure that the correct decisions are made. This view however is not shared by avid Bet on AFL fans who insist that the use of video umpiring in AFL would take away from the experience and enjoyment of the game.

I can barely remember a more anticipated trip to the AFL tribunal than that of Barry Hall last night following his shocking and seemingly unprovoked “king hit” on Brent Staker on the weekend.  Bet on AFL brings you the following on the incident.

centrebet.com.au

Hall has copped a 7 week ban on the chin saying that he was “prepared to cop whatever came my way” as he left the hearing last night. He has also again offered an apology to Brent Staker for the punch which he says was unacceptable and has vowed to return to the game a better man after his suspension is completed. www.centrebet.com.au offered odds on this outcome along with the match and you can register with them now to score a bet refund on your 1st bet!

Brent Staker has now been cleared for a possible broken jaw from the incident and there is a chance that he will play in the Eagles Sunday match against Port at Subiaco.

The Eagles were left a man down after the incident while Hall was reported and was able to continue on with play. The AFL as a whole has never considered a send off rule similar to that in Rugby League and other games, but there is a call now for this to be seriously considered in instances where serious incidents occur such as this.

Wether the Swans be able to hold their own without Hall for 7 matches remains to be seen.

This year’s Australian (Telstra) swimming championship were packed with National records, commonwealth and world records. IASBet have you covered with a $200 free bet so you can start betting on the sports you love.

In the men’s event Eamon Sullivan dominated the short course events picking up a world record in the 50m freestyle, in the semi final his time was an amazing 21.41 and then went onto make an even better time at 21.28 securing his place in the history books.

In other events another talented swimmer in line for the Olympics is Nick D’Arcy who made a great entrance in the 200m butterfly collecting a time of 1:55.10, and I would say this young gentleman is someone to look out for while away in the summer.

Going over to the women’s events one person who does seem to shine out to me is Stephanie Rice who broke world records in both the 200m and 400m individual medley and is sure to be favourite to be top of the ladder at Beijing.

In the short events Lisbeth Trickett who also broke world records in the 50m and 100m freestyle is another Australian who is sure to have a gold medal around her neck in the summer.
In the 50m backstroke Emily Seebohm and Sophie Edington look set to have a titanic battle in the battle for gold as both broke world records in the semi and final of the event with Sophie Edington being the new record holder with a tome of 27.67 seconds.
