www.centrebet.com.au – After two major defeats against Newcastle and Middlesbrough, Aston Villa finally pulled up their socks, and scored a good 2 – 0 against Arsenal.

The previous games in the Premier League have saw Arsenal’s victory over Manchester United, but yet, losing to Aston Villa. This is probably a huge blow to the entire team. The last 20 minutes saw the 2 goals that many of Villa’s supporters were highly anticipating for. The first crucial goal came as it saw Gael Clichy score with the help of Ashley Young making it a perfect situation ‘conducive’ for a goal. The second goal came by not too long at the 80mins benchmark by Gabriel Agbonlahor.

What were frustrating about this game were the many missed opportunities that Villa’s players had, and yet failed to follow through. The performance of Aston Villa is considered highly remarkable, but more polish is needed as, the attempted attacks on the opposition goal post were far too many to narrow the attacks down to just allow 2 goals through. This victory means that Villa is now able to challenge for the top four positions.

On the other side, Arsenal’s earlier victory against Manchester United seemed to be totally wiped off due to the defeat. For a team that was the hot favorites, this is simply unbearable to supporters and the players themselves. A good defense played by Arsenal is noted, as many saves were made from the opposition team. However, more mental concentration on the game was required to make this game a walk through, and Arsenal was simply not up to it.

Sportingbet – Manchester United and Stoke

Sportingbet.com.au – Saturday’s night game between Manchester United and Stoke would have many Man-U supporters deeming it a ‘cruisy’ game for their favorite team. It also saw the absent of many of Man-U main players such as Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney due to injuries. Despite of this ‘handicap’, United still managed a comfortable 5 – 0 win against Stoke.

Without a doubt, the star player for that night was Christiano Ronaldo. Man-U scored well ahead of their opponent when two free-kick opportunities were presented to them. Ask me who better than to take on this role? Yes, without a doubt, Christiano Ronaldo sealed 2 goals easier with his trademark kick, raising the challenge bar a notch higher than it already is.

But credits have to be given to Stoke’s players as they guarded their home goal fiercely. Stoke had no choice but to play the game in a defense mode, leaving their attacking attempts to near zero. The game started to take a turn, making it a one sided attack by Man-U as it saw a diminishing team effort by Stoke. What really broke the hopes of Stoke players was evident just before half time was up, as 2 goals, within a short time-frame, was scored by United.

Manchester United is now on to the next round for this Premier League Season.

Sportingbet.com.au – Lance Armstrong

www.sportingbet.com.au – Lance Armstrong, an American that has won the Tour de France seven times is afraid of being attacked by spectators next year. In cycling, spectators are typically allowed to place themselves anywhere along the route, and it seems that there are directors of French teams that have encouraged people to go onto the streets.

The drama started unfolding where unverified claims of Lance’s seven victories were aided by performance enhancing drugs, and angry French fans are upset that Lance supposedly misdeed has soiled the image and magic of the pinnacle of cycling sport.

It appears that samples of the athlete’s urine in the 1999 race have traces of the blood boosting drug EPO. Despite claiming that his victories are a result of hard work, Lance declined to a re-test of the samples because he couldn’t be sure if they have been contaminated.

Lance is no doubt the most famous cyclist the world has ever seen, battling cancer to win the Tour de France, and not only that, he is also the oldest cyclist to have won the title. With such achievements, Lance has faced unmatched level of scrutiny from the press. Perhaps, even if he did take a performance enhancing drug, it should only put him on par with the much younger athletes in the game. I’ll say shame on the others for not being able to win an (relatively) old man.

It remains for all to see if the French will be graceful enough in the next race, for an assault on an American is the last thing the organizers want to see, and given the press coverage, I think an assault will weigh against the favour of the French and gain sympathy for Lance worldwide.

Sportingbet – Rules of AFL

www.sportingbet.com.au – AFL is known as the Australian Football League, and it was first played in Melbourne on 1858. It has since gained a reputation amongst the different generations, making it an extremely popular sport with the Australians.

BET NOW

The game consist of two teams of 18 players each, whereby the use of a ball, on an outdoor field with two tall goal post at each opposite ends sets the game settings. The entire purpose of the game is to successfully allow the ball to follow-through the two goal post of the opposition team. The team with the highest score will be crowned the winner after a total of fourth quarters, with each quarter lasting approximately 20 minutes long. However, due to delays such as an accident, or out of field balls, the game can be stopped and resumed accordingly.

Since the AFL is considered a ‘contact’ sport, players are able to use any part of their body to their advantage. Thus, this simply means using the body to tackle their opponents, or advance the game by kicking, running etc. However, players must not be caught holding the ball and running without bouncing or touching the ground for every 15mentres, or face the penalty. Also, players are allowed to use any methods to snatch the ball away from the opposing team anytime in the game except during a free-kick, which is issued by an umpire.

One distinct characteristics of AFL is termed ‘the mark’, whereby if any player is in catches a ball, by hand, that have traveled 15 meters without touching the ground, is awarded a free-kick.

The winner will then advance to the following round and face their next challenge.

www.iasbet.com.au – Well, Ben Cousins after his brush with the AFL commission is now cleared to return to the playing field. Ben can now either enter the NAB AFL Draft on November 29 or the pre season draft on December 16. Naturally, given his infamous history, he and any club that signs him on will have to satisfy a strict series of tests to keep him in the clear.

PLAY NOW

It has been said that St Kilda is thought of as the forerunner to recruit Ben since he has been cleared. This is hinted by St Kilda’s captain Nick Riewoldt who enthusiastically hinted at prospects of Cousins as a team mate. But St Kilda’s not alone in their bid for cousins, who has always been a highly sought after star player.

The Lions are also keen on Cousins as the club’s coach Michael Voss expressed that they are still interested in Cousins, and although Voss has not spoken to Cousins personally, the club has been in touch with Cousins to find out what he has been up to.

The West Coast also welcomed the AFL decision to let Cousins back into the game, stating that it will be good for the game and aid Ben in his own recovery.

So with the favourable AFL’s verdict, the Saints pleased, the Lions keen, and Eagles happy, it will be interesting to see who Ben Cousins will lay foot with.

Whatever it is, it looks like the next season promises to be mighty interesting!
