The Ashes 2009

Centrebet.com.au: Australia remains the favourite to get the head-start on its arch enemy, England, in the upcoming Ashes series, according to Centrebet punters.

Odds for the first Test, which begins on July 8, rate Australia a $2.15 chance to gain a 1-0 lead in the series, while England is quoted at $3.80. The draw is at $2.80.

The outlook is even worse for the Poms, in the view of the public, when it comes to winning the series, with Australia rated a $1.72 chance to retain the Ashes, while England is $3.20 at centrebet.com.au. A drawn Test series is regarded as an unlikely prospect, at $5.75.

You can get $7 for Australia to win the series 2-1, while a 2-1 English win, the same score-line as 2005, is rated a $10 chance. Australia is $15 for a 5-0 clean sweep, which would replicate the result as the 2007 Ashes series in Australia.

On the run-scoring front, Centrebet.com punters think that, while England may lose the series, Kevin Pietersen will stand tall. He is at $3.50 to score the most runs across the series. The opposing captains, Andrew Strauss and Ricky Ponting are each at $4, while young gun Phillip Hughes is at $4.25 which, given his recent form, is excellent value. Michael Clarke is also at $5.50.

Mitchell Johnson is the $2.75 favourite to claim the most wickets for his team, while Englishman James Anderson is at $3. Peter Siddle, at $6, may be worth a look for punters. Steve Harmison, on the comeback trail, is a $9 chance for England.

Sportingbet.com.au – Cricket

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Thursday Feb 19th, 2009

www.sportingbet.com.au – Australia is gearing up to square the Chappel – Hadlee cricket at two games all at the Adelaide Oval tonight in an attempt to avoid almost certain humiliation after a dismal 4 – 1 defeat at the hands of the Proteas earlier this summer.

Just two years ago, the Australian cricket team were considered peerless in world cricket – almost invincible in the one day form of the game.

PLAY NOW

However, thanks to a poor tour of India and a nightmare series against South Africa, the have slipped to number two in the world – a prospect that has cricketing nations around the world salivating.

On the back of the shock defeat by the South Africans, Australia was under mounting pressure and came out very flat against the Black Caps – batting first in the first two matches of the series only to post totals that were considered well below par.

In what has been a thrilling series despite the lack of form from batsmen on both sides, New Zealand went two games up in the blink of an eye to leave Australia with zero margin for error in the remainder of the series.

Australia showed promising signs after dropping one hit wonder David Warner and elevating a feisty Brad Haddin to the top of the order.

Haddin blasted 109 of 114 balls to set up an unreachable total for the Black Caps and will look to retain his spot at number one – something that Adam Gilchrist did for almost the entirety of his career. Sportingbet.com.au

Sportingbet.com.au- Australian Crowes

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Thursday Feb 5th, 2009

www.sportingbet.com.au – Adelaide Crowes Australian Rules Footballer Brad Symes has sustained an injury that will see him sidelined for eight weeks and miss the entire pre season NAB cup.

The injury did not occur on the field, did not happen in training and was not the result of excessive alcohol consumption as the vast majority of Australian Rules Footballer’s injuries are.

BET NOW

No, Brad Symes had hitches a lift on the boot of a team mate’s car to cross the car park to the AAMI stadium change rooms after training when the driver went over a speed hump and the unprepared Symes was flung out onto the bitumen, severely breaking both his hand.

In a statement released by the club, it is apparent that Symes was in no way guilty of any misconduct or skylarking, merely a sever error in judgement.

The promising midfielder fractured the thumb on his left hand and and broke a bone in his right hand and will have both hands in plaster for up to eight weeks, rendering him unavailable to play until the regular home and away season commences later in Autumn.

The pre season NAB Cup is designed to get player’s match fitness up to scratch before the start of the real season and Symes’ inability to train and get his match fitness to where it needs to be will almost certainly mean that barring a miracle, he will miss the opening game of this season’s AFL.

Needles to say, when asked, Symes said if he had his time over again, he’d walk.

Centrebet.com.au – Roger Federer

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Tuesday Feb 3rd, 2009

www.centrebet.com.au – Roger Federer has sent out a resounding warning to all those who doubted he could win the Australian open with a straight sets tennis class over Italian Andreas Seppi last night.

Seppi made a crucial error that should have seen him break Federer’d serve in the opening game of the match which Federer went on to win.

Realising the magnitude of his error – Seppi failed to fire and Federer breezed through the opening set 6 – 1 in just under twenty five minutes.

BET NOW

Federer played literally every shot in the book and look every bit the champion that has seen him capture three of the last four Australian Open titles – finishing a poultry second last year after losing the final to young sensation and world number three Novak Djokovic.

Seppi then went into defensive mode, showing some touches of class himself but clearly the occasion was bigger then he and he went down fighting 6 -1 7 – 6 7 – 5.

Amazingly, Federer has one the opening fixture of his last twenty grand slams in straight sets, meaning he has not dropped a single set in an opening match for more than five years.

The win follows statement by Federer that highlighted his disbelief that Scotsman Andy Murray could be given the favourite’s tag over the likes of himself, world number one Raffael Nadal and Djokovic.

Nadal is the undisputed world number one while Federer finished the year by winning the U.S. Open and started this year by breezing through his first tournament, Sydney’s Kooyong Classic.

sportingbet.com.au review

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Friday Jan 23rd, 2009

sportingbet.com.au hails itself as Australian’s largest bookmaker, and is based and licensed in the Northern Territory. What differs Sportingbet from other online sites is that not only it offers a telephone betting service, it also allows registered members to use the same account interchangeably over the different mediums available.

BET NOW

Payment options are standard and widely accepted standards, including Visa, Mastercard, Bpay, POLi and Paypal. That said, members can also choose to transfer funds using cheques, bank deposits or telegraphic transfer, which leaves members no excuse for not being able to have money in their account for some added fun to their favourite sport.

The number of events that members can be on is one of the most extensive in the market. The events are not only worldwide, but include others that non-sports fan will find interesting such as the Australian Federal Election and Queensland State Election. That said, you also have the option of putting your money on your favourite Miss World 2008 candidate, or your favourite actor/actress in the 81st Academy Awards.

All these events other than the mainstream sporting events qualify for the $100 free bet sign-up bonus for new sign-ups. There are also a huge range of products that punters can choose from, including but not limited to Parlay bet types and Multi bet types.

Other things that one may find of assistance is a toll-free 1800 number, a 24/7 help desk, and should you not have a phone on person, a ‘live’ chat room that you can access for any enquiries that you may have. And naturally, in this age and space, you are also able to access Sportingbet on a mobile phone version that is scaled down to suit mobile phone browsers and the true blue road warriors.

centrebet.com.au review

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Tuesday Jan 20th, 2009

The best thing I like about Centrebet.com.au is its "next 6 sports" section that allows you to see the next events that are coming up within the next couple of hours. This probably will allow any hardcore punters out there to put their money on a soon happening event.

Another particularly useful feature of Centrebet is its language selector. Although it doesn’t have Mandarin on its selection list, it still beats other online websites that doesn’t offer anything else but English. In any case, you are able to get Centrebet on German, Polish, Italian and Spanish among others.

BET NOW

Centrebet is old and big. It is Australian first licensed bookmaker and is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX), and this probably gives punters an ease of mind when putting their money into betting accounts. Payments options are common and plentiful, including but not limited to credit cards, bank transfers, PayPal and Bpay.

Other than being a predominantly Australian sports betting website, punters also have the option of accessing other sister sites, which includes an online casino (www.centrebetcasino.com) should you not have any interest in the offerings or the odds offered.

The website is largely divided into sports and racing, although interestingly, the entertainment section is under the sports section. The events offered for betting are varied and international, which you will find no lack of events to put your money on. The racing section is exceptionally well covered and well organised, and as the sports section, also offers live updates of the next upcoming races.
